Sofia is 19 weeks old today!

Her latest favorite things to do are: drool, blow raspberries with extra spit, grab her feet, suck on her fingers (or occasionally an entire fist), and just be adorable!

Sofia's 4 Month Check-up

On our way to the Doc

Today was Sofia's 4 month check-up. She weighs 17 1/2 lbs, 25 1/2" tall and 16" head circumference. That puts her in the 97th percentile. The doctor was very happy with her progress. She is very healthy and hitting all of her milestones. She said to hold off on solid foods until 6 months. We are starting her on baby vitamins.
Then...of course the worst part...shots! She cried a lot when the needles actually went in, but recovered quickly. We are keeping her on Tylenol the rest of the day to avoid the freakout episode from her last shots when the Tylenol wore off.
Next appointment at 6 months!

Sofia Rolled Over Today! Last Mommy & Me Class

From L to R: Paloma & Luca, Dena & Parker, Kathy & Jenna, me & Sofia, Sarah & Ben, Larissa & Cole, Robyn & Alexandra. Missing: Joanne & Griffin, Allyse & Max, Julie & Natalie

Today was a big day - Sofia rolled over for the first time! I arrived for my last mommy & me class a little early (see group photo above), so I put Sofia on her blanket for a little tummy time. Across the room, Alexandra, who's a little peanut, was also doing tummy time. Her mom Robyn was saying that she rolls over all the time, and as if to demonstrate, Alexandra rolled over. (with Sofi watching) I said "Sofia hasn't done that yet" and as soon as the words were out of my mouth, she rolled over onto her back. It's as if seeing Alexandra do it showed her how, and she was like "I can do this". Of course I didn't get any video/photos - the video below if right after as I tried to capture her doing it again with no luck!

Post roll-over - she didn't feel like doing it again :)

Sofia is 4 months old today!

Too much fun with photoshop - this affect is "soft glow" :)

She is very aware of the camera, probably because we always have one on her!

Nel is one week in to being Mr. Mom, and already asleep on the job!

Daycare

Today we finalized our decision for a daycare for Sofia. Even though she won't start until September 21st, we have been looking at places for a couple of months. We decided on a home daycare run by a really sweet Russian couple named Lena & Peter. It's about 10 minutes from our house. I will drop her off at 8am and Nelson will pick her up by 6pm. They have 12 kids - Sofi will be the youngest. They have a nursery in their house with enough cribs for the babies under 2 to sleep in and a huge backyard with tons of toys and play equipment. Lena was a teacher back in Russia and Peter was a volleyball coach so Lena does the lessons and Peter shows the kids sports & exercises. Lena will be Sofi's primary caregiver and you can just tell she loves Sofi already. She also cooks all of the meals and will make Sofi baby food as soon as she's old enough to eat but not old enough for solids.
We visited 3 times, including tonight when we went over to sign the contract. We just got a really good vibe from them. Sofi went to her really easily and smiled at Peter, who gave her a rattle to play with and called her "Princess". I also called a bunch of their references and the moms I talked to raved about how great the daycare is. They said their kids all thrived there - some of their kids are already in grade school and doing are great because of Lena's teaching. I could not find one bad thing about them. The price was also so much better than the larger day care centers, a bit higher than other home daycares but for what they provide, and hte fact they've been around for over 15 years, gave them the advantage for sure.
So Nel has 7 more weeks - and they are holding Sofi's spot until then!

More Summertime fun pics + video

This evening we had dinner with our neighbors the Phillips today - Anthony makes a mean bbq, greens & mac n cheese. We went swimming again and remembered to bring Sofi's floatee boat. She was digging it.

She looks like she belongs in the Hamptons with that suit & hat

Sofi & River

Funny Sofi faces!

Pooltime video - those funny sucking motions she is making is her trying to suck the pool water off her lips...she seems fascinated by the taste of water

Sofia is 17 weeks today! pics & video

Today we went and had dinner with Uncle Greggy. She was quite the vocal little lady, lots of babbling and a bit of shrieking. And tons of smiles - the little flirt. Took 2 videos on the way home of her smiling and talking. She was laughing out loud, until I turned on the camera that is, but the videos are still sweet.

Our latest purchase is the BinkiClip which fastens her pacifier to her shirt so when she spits it out it doesn't fall on the floor

Play time with Uncle Greggy
