Sofia, Meet Santa!

We took Sofia to the mall today (Topanga) to meet Santa. It was quite a long line but we fed her dinner to keep her occupied. We weren't sure if she would be happy to see him or scared of him, but we figured either way it would make a great photo opp and story. She was actually very happy to see him, totally checked him out and smiled for the picture. I love it, this is the best 1st Santa pic we could have hoped for. Thanks to Grammy Sue for joining us!

Sofia's Second Tooth / Started Protein

On Tuesday, I noticed that Sofia's second tooth is starting to come out - the other bottom middle tooth. It's not visible via photo yet but we'll share when it is. (Her first tooth first poked through on 11/15) Lena will be so happy when she's back from vacation, she said Sofia can have Cheerios as soon as she has 2 teeth :)

Sofia has tried 3 new foods this week - chicken, turkey and yogurt. She likes them all! Especially the yogurt.

She is getting to be quite good at picking up "puffs" and putting them in her mouth. Less casualties falling to the floor than before!

Foods still on the list that we haven't gotten around to but will try soon: plums, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, tomato, corn and cauliflower.

Sofia's Day with Auntie Leah & Lexie

Sofia's daycare is closed this week while Lena & Peter go on vacation, so we have been lucky to have people watch her each day. Monday was Abuela Sara, yesterday was Nel, and today I dropped her off with Auntie Leah. (Tomorrow I'm staying home and Friday Auntie Holli is coming down with Savanna & Ben!)

River Stops By

Today River (and her mommy Michelle) from across the street stopped by - we hadn't seen them in a while! River is 2 weeks younger than Sofia, and looks like she is finally catching up size-wise to Sofia. We put her hair in a "pebbles" style ponytail too, though it's so curly you can hardy tell!

Sofi's Strange Nap

Today during Sofia's nap, I noticed on the video monitor that she had woken up and was sitting up playing with her toys. It was still an hour before she was supposed to get up, and she was playing quietly, so I let her be. I checked the monitor about 30 minutes later and she was still sitting there, but when I looked closer, I realized she wasn't playing, she was just sitting....odd! So I snuck into her room and what I saw made me laugh - she had fallen asleep sitting up!

Sofi's 7 month Collage

Sofia is 8 months old today!

She is becoming more and more active every day! We've set up a play station in the living room where she can play with her toys, and she will entertain herself while we eat dinner or hang out on the couch and catch up (and occasionally even let us watch a TV show!)

She continues to pull her up to standing in her crib, and likes to hold onto the ottoman/coffee table in a standing position. She will scootch forwards and backwards to get to a favorite toy.

Yesterday was an awesome milestone - she waved hello (in response to me waving hello to her) She also likes to mimic sounds - if I say "hi" she sometimes says "hah" and if we say mama or dada she will sometimes repeat the sound back. She also has her little noises - one is a "ssssss" and the other is her blowing out air "whoo whoo - so if we make those sounds to her, she makes them back, usually with a smile like "are you making fun of me?"
