Sofia's First Mani Pedi

Sofia napped while I went to get my nails done, I got Halloween themed toes - orange with black spiders and white webs. I showed her when she woke up and she wanted them on her toes! Luckily my nail stylist was free and did a quick pedi and then purple fingernails with flowers too. She was a very good girl and sat pretty still. She was so proud of her pretty fingers and toes!

Playgroup Princess

We had fun today at playgroup. It's amazing when I think back that we've known this group since the kids were 6 weeks old! It's so awesome to see them all grow up. Today it was at Jenna's house. We played and ate lunch and the moms got to chat. Sofia wore a super cute Cinderella tracksuit and I love how she modeled the writing on the butt for me :)

Pumpkin Patch!

We had a fun time at Lombardi Ranch pumpkin patch today. But boy was it hot - 95 degrees in late October? Sofia loved running around checking out all of the pumpkins, and riding the choo choo train. She is super excited about Halloween this year and can't wait to trick or treat. WHY? Because "I get candy mama!" Gabby was a trooper despite the heat and loved checking everything out. And you can check out my new glasses in these pics too :) will probably still wear my contacts most of the time but these are super cute. Also we got new iphones so taking so many more cell phone pics and I got a cool app where you can add filters, borders etc. So the first pic is me taking a self portrait on my photo using a retro filter!

Happy 104th Abuelita!

We went to visit Nelson's Abuelita for her 104th birthday. She was so happy to see the girls. It was great to see Tia Ani and Tia Isabel too. It had been to long. Sofia really liked the sopapillas too!

All about Sofia at 2 1/2

Sofia is the biggest character you will ever meet! She is so full of life. And boy does she talk talk talk!! She says the funniest things. The other day she asked for a snack and it was almost dinner and she wanted a snack, so I said no. She replied "how dare you!" She says "you can't do it" when there's something she doesn't like and "you can" when it's something she wants you to do. And she loves to walk around and quote Star Wars - especially telling her babies "I am your father!" a la Vader. She talks to Gabby just like me - "Hi Gabs" "you so cute" and when Gabby cries "It's alright Gabbers, you alright, I here" She loves her sister and hugs and kisses her all the time (hence no escaping them both getting sick) She definitely is a mama's girl. She loves to go get frozen yogurt or go with me to the store - grocery or Target. She loves to ride in elevators and always tells the doors "Abre" (open in Spanish) like she learned on Dora. She will put her hands on either side of my face and say "you so cute" or "Mama you beautiful". She loves kisses and hugs. She is such a people person, she goes crazy when her friends or cousins are around. She is a social butterfly. She is resisting the afternoon nap big time and sometimes we'll go in there after 2 hours of "nap" and find that she has dragged every toy in her room onto her bed. When she doesn't want to nap or go to sleep she says "Mom it's not dark here" because she equates darkness with bedtime. She loves Disney Princesses especially Ariel and most Disney movies in fact. Her favorite shows are currently Clifford, Olivia and Team Umizoomi though she still watches some Dora, Sesame Street and SpongeBob. She has a separate playlist on my iPod so when we are in my car, she always wants to hear her songs. The first song is "Barbie Girl" by Aqua so she say "Mama you have Barbie Girls?" whenever we get in the car.
She is 2 so she does throw temper tantrums most of the time related to wanting some kind of food or not wanting to brush her teeth or go potty or not wanting to go to sleep. We are still working on the potty training, it's about 50/50 and she wears pull-ups still during the day and diapers at night. It's hard to focus on it with so little free time. We need to find a weekend to do one of those cold turkey run around with no clothes things - but there's never a free weekend! She loves gymnastics and swim classes, and hopefully she will soon graduate to the classes that don't require parent participation. She is beautiful, loving, funny and sassy. We adore her!

Sick Girls - all week long

We had a pretty mellow weekend but last Sunday night Sofia started to cough a little at bedtime. She seemed OK in the morning so we sent her to daycare. Lena called us to pick her up early because she was coughing and seemed warm. So I stayed home with her Tuesday and sent Gabby to daycare. Lena called after nap and said Gabby was sick with the same thing! (cough, chest congestion, slight fever) Sara stayed with the girls Wed/Fri and I stayed home again Thursday. Took them to the doctor and nothing serious just have to ride it out. The coughing was worse at night and Gabby slept great all week but Sofia was up a lot. And for once in her life Sofia lost her appetite! They are both feeling better now and should be fine to go to daycare next week. Gabby was a real trooper with her first cold. Just glad she lasted 8 months without any other illnesses! She was in good spirits despite it all, as you can see in the pic.
