Josh & Lexie's Bday at Chuck E Cheese

Today Sofia experienced Chuck E Cheese for the first time. She liked it, wasn't really into any of the rides except the carousel because it went very slow! She liked the games though especially anything you can steer or with buttons to push. She liked the pizza and of course the cake. She thought Chuck E the rat was OK from afar only! She kept us on our toes running around all over
the place. She's not quite big enough so that she could sit at the kids' table - next year!

It's All About Lappy

As pretty much everyone knows me knows, I'm a hockey freak and my favorite player is a guy named Ian Laperriere - aka Lappy. He played in LA for 9 years, then Colorado for 3, then last year he made it all the way to the finals with Philly. I finally broke down and bought a Philly jersey, and he's just announced that due to some injuries suffered last year doctors have recommended he retire. So it's not official yet but it seems likely, he is a real family guy and I'm sure won't take the risk of further permanent injury to keep playing. It's very sad but he has had a great career and I've been lucky to watch him play since I was in college! Our friend Karen who runs a Lappy website is making a collage for him and so Sofia donned my new jersey for some pics - these are my fave!

Canadian Thanksgiving

Today we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving at the Ikedas - as we do each year. Another excuse to stuff our faces with turkey, and say thanks Canada for giving us hockey! Small group this year - just us and the Korts. The kids had lots of fun playing. Sofia is finally old enough to really play with the other kids.

Daddy shared his mini red velvet cupcake - and she subsequently stole Cian's cupcake and ate it, which made him very sad! Again we are just starting to work on the sharing thing.

Construction update - end of week #3

Things are moving along well, this was a slower week because a few things are waiting on other things...but so far all the roof is framed, AC and electrical is done (and passed inspection) and the framing for the hallway extension is done. Next week we'll be doing insulation, roofing, our third inspection and if things go well the drywalling will start. Our new window and door should be here as well so they can finish the framing in our existing room (move the existing windows). Here are some pics of our old room / new hallway:

Back from Vegas/Sofia's 18 month doctor's appointment

We went to Las Vegas this weekend for Frozen Fury XIII - our annual tradition - Grandma Sara stayed at our house with Sofia. We had a really fun time! But it was the first time we've left her for 2 nights, and previously it was only one night one time. When we got back we were so happy to see Sofia, and Sofia was very happy to see us! She pretty much followed us around the whole day to make sure we weren't going to leave. But already she seems to much more comfortable and her old self, so it's business as usual tomorrow - back to work and day care. Nelson took this picture of our little rock star last night when we got home:

Sofia had her 18 month doctor's appointment today. She weighs 28 lbs 6 oz (92nd percentile) and is 31 inches tall (70th percentile). All of her development is right on track!

She had to have several shots today and she cried during the shots, which is not surprising. But when we left the nurse gave her an Elmo sticker and she was so excited she gave the nurse a kiss! It was the sweetest thing. Luckily she doesn't need any more vaccines (except the yearly flu shot) until she is 5 years old. We were so lucky that she never had a bad reaction to any of the vaccines. We have one tough little cookie!

One of my family's old and dear friends Linda and her daughter Jandi came to visit and Linda took some wonderful shots of Sofia (and us) in our yard. Linda is also a photoshop genius so she did some great things with the photos too - here are some of the best!
