Lexie's Mermaid Party

We had a fun time at Lexie's birthday today - Little Mermaid themed, which is one of Sofia's favorites these days. Her favorite parts of the party were the cake and the pinata. She only got one piece of candy when it broke but it was an edible bracelet which she thought was pretty cool! Lexie was dressed as Ariel too, so after the party I was at Target and saw a really cute Ariel outfit for $20 at Target so I got it for her...she loved it! See pix below.

Disneyland - Heather's Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, and it was a great day. Got really spoiled at work with a breakfast, taken out to Lunch, and desserts and drinks, plus we had a fun family dinner out. (not a great diet day!!) Then today we hit up Disneyland for the afternoon. Gabby enjoyed the stroller sans car seat because she can sit up and check everything out. Sofia loved the Parade and the Carousel, as you can see from the pics. We also went on Small World twice, Jungle Cruise and saw the Tiki Room show. Fun and surprising how tiring just 4 hours can be :) Loving the annual passes, we have been at least once a month and getting our money's worth.

A Visit from an Old Friend

Today an old Kings fan/hockey friend Elta stopped by with her boys Cavan and Aidan. She is also pregnant with a girl and inherited some of the girls' baby clothes! We had fun playing and Sofia even gave and received hugs when they left :)

Sofia's Big Girl Bed

Tonight we took the plunge...we converted Sofia's crib to a big girl bed with a railing. We figured it was time because she was getting so mad in the mornings when she wanted to get up and we don't come and get her fast enough. Now she can get out and hopefully play in her room vs come wake us up. That's why we did it on a weekend, to give it a try!
She was so excited when she saw it, she kept crawling in and out of it and said "it's so beautiful".
I hope we don't regret this :)

Gabby, Daycare Veteran after Week 1!

She still gets a little fussy when I drop her off, but we're told she's happy all day and yes very happy to see us at night. Would ya look at this face????

Happy Labor Day!

Today we mostly relaxed and enjoyed the extra day off (though both Nel & I are exhausted from our workouts! We really picked it up today - Nel finished P90x, did a marathon training run and started Insanity. I started the advanced portion of TurboFire. We managed to take a walk, give Sofia a mani/pedi, and watch a couple of movies as well.
Gabby is definitely more active this past week or so, we should call her Grabby because anything she can get her hands near, she's got and in the mouth it goes. But she is so cute and smiley, I just love this age!
Sofia is really into being a princess - after her nails she made us give her a dress to wear and put her hair in a "princess ponytail". She also loves her some Ariel. Lexie is having a Little Mermaid party in 2 weeks and Sofia is already saying "my Ariel" oh boy!

BBQ & Swim at The Ikedas

We had a fun time today as we trekked down to Orange County to see the Ikedas' new house. We swam, ate (a lot), and the kids went wild running around and playing. Despite short naps, both girls did well. Sofia even ran around with the big kids a lot - she is almost not a toddler anymore, she looks so grown up running around whispering secrets to Lexie and tackling the older boys with "hugs".
