The Girls are growing, growing, growing!

I realize that I slacked a bit in the photos and blog department the past month, so trying to make up for it this weekend! So Gabby will be 7 months in less than a week, and Sofia will be 2 1/2 in one month, cannot believe it! Gabby is definitely more interested in "things" not - grabbing them, eating them (sometimes to Sofia's dismay) but Sofia is very sweet with her, though will take away a toy if she thinks it's hers (even baby toys which are clearly not hers).
The first pic below is from Nel's cell from this morning (he let me sleep in today) and the rest are from the afternoon, Sofia was in a princess mood and picked out this watermelon dress to wear (and wore it to ride her bike and play on the swings as well). Nel put Gabby's hair in a ponytail and I don't know why we don't do it more often, she is so cute! I remember Sofia had a ponytail a lot. I guess we're just lazier this time around :) Check out the pics! Got some really great ones.

Gabby Starts Daycare

It's been a busy couple of weeks. Nelson's been enjoying the end of his time home with Gabby. We've been doing our workouts, Sofia's been doing swim & gymnastics, and Gabby has been trying several new foods to add to her menu.
But today REALITY sets in, Nelson went back to work this morning, and I had my first experience trying to get both girls ready and get them to daycare. Luckily I have the day off (and only keeping them their half day) so I didn't have to worry about getting myself ready too. Sofia got up at 6:30am (WTF) somehow managed to keep her quiet so Gabby could rest until 7:30. They played a little with some toys while I loaded up the car (Gabby needs lots of goodies at daycare - backup clothes, diapers, wipes, bottles, formula, paci's, etc) Getting to daycare was another story. I took the girls in first, and went back to the car for Gabby's stuff. When I got back both were crying :( and didn't stop up until the point I left. I'm hoping that Gabby will get used to being around new people as quickly as Sofia did. Unfortunately this is the age where they know who mama and daddy are and who is NOT mama and daddy. So an emotional morning, but now I have a few hours to get some things done before I pick them up.

Pajama Party

Got some cute pics of the girls messing around in their PJs before bedtime. Gabby is loving her Sophie the Giraffe (though Sofia doesn't understand why it has her name). Sofia is getting to the point where she doesn't want to smile for the camera, she just makes a cheesy face. She won't sit still for long! And when she poses with Gabby, she spends most of the time looking and Gabby saying "smile Gabby" instead of looking at the camera herself.

Quick trip to D-land

We spent the morning at Disneyland...saw Mickey & Minnie, rode Small World twice, and went on Peter Pan for Sofia's first time - and of course we had to watch the movie when we got home. Her favorite part is the CROCODILE ("snap snap" she says) Gabby was her usual chill self. I LOVE the pic of her with Sofia's hat on sideways. And as usual mama got suckered into getting Sofia a goodie - she picked out a Tinkerbell doll. It was a tough choice between that and Ariel but she is really getting into fairies. And now we are exhausted after only about 4 1/2 hours there. But love that we have the passes and can go anytime, we are trying to make it out once a month. August - check!

Family Portraits Comparison

February 2011 vs our recent photo shoot. The girls keep getting bigger while Nelson and I are getting smaller. I gotta say the angles/clothing were somewhat camouflaging in the first one but you can still tell by looking at our faces that we've changed a lot! (click on the photo to enlarge it)

Monthly Collages / Gabby 6 mo Dr appt

Another great month of collages! Today was also Gabby's doctor's appointment for her 6 month check-up. She is 18 lbs 10 oz and 27 1/2 inches. Very close to what Sofia was at 6 month - 18 lbs 7 oz & 27 inches - their growth pattern has been almost identical so far. She was super great with the shots, only cried for a second. Has been in an OK mood all day since, just kind of tired because the appointment was during her naptime. Doctor said everything else is fabulous and on track.

After a rough start (Sofia being grouchy and Gabby tipping over twice!) we ended up getting some great pics, even got a few family shots and one with sis before Gabby got her solo shots. And yes in the first shots, the girls are wearing matching outfits. :) Nelson and I enjoyed seeing the difference in ourselves too - he's lost 30 pounds and I've lost 43!
